My photography motto has always been “Everybody needs a headshot.” And in todays ever changing marketing and tech savvy world, it’s true. Everybody does need a professional headshot and professional photos to capture those memorable events you’ll want to look back on.
After picking up a Pentax K1000 at 11 years old while growing up in Jackson, Michigan, my curiosity and love for photography has not wavered since. Growing up I looked at endless Life magazines, exposing myself to worldwide journalistic portrait and landscape photography. Photographing for my high school yearbook and college student newspaper helped me gain valuable experience along the way.
Pulitzer Prize winning, John H. White’s, photo journalism class at Columbia College inspired me to start Brian McConkey Photography in Chicago. John said, “Take the lens cap off your camera and never use it again.” A camera is with me at all times. And of course there are too many professional photographers both famous and unknown that keep inspiring me today: Richard Avedon, Annie Leibowitz, Mary Ellen Mark, Greg Gorman, Diane Arbus and Joel-Peter Witkin, to name a few.
I have been a professional photographer for close to 25 years and started Brian McConkey photography in 1992. Starting out, Chicago Actor Headshots were my bread and butter and I still love photographing actors. I have since branched out and photograph a wide variety of people and events along with Actor Headshots. This includes: Corporate Headshots, Family and Kids Portraits, Animal Portraits, Bar and Bat Mitzvah Photography, Wedding Photography, Music Photography and Special Events Photography.
My goal is to create a relaxed, fun and professional environment so you’re comfortable. This helps bring out your unique personality and results in the perfect headshot or photograph you’re wanting and a fun experience. I love collaborating with clients and hope to hear from you.
